The Northland A Lullaby Story, Part 2 by Ceanne DeRohan (Copy)
Excerpts from the story:
What fun! The toboggan is racing on ahead and jumps off a snowy ledge. The reindeer takes a flying leap and soars with his little riders high into the starry night.
Papa closes his hands, and then, opening them, puts one crystal ball into Skonah's hand.It quickly pops into two. Still fascinated, she gives one to Skon. "Do you understand?" Papa asks.
Grampa Sabogomist comes in from the deep and cold. He has been watching the stars.
"Let's have a sleep," he says, "for I know it will soon be time for us to go."
"There are pixie ice ships with big sails running on the winds down there. I don't think you've seen them before. Their ships are on big skis so when their sails catch the wind, they can turn and spin and run, oh so fast up and down on the river ice.
Evera's hair is silvery and mossy. His skin is pale and frosty. His garments are mossy and lacy with lichen. Featherings of evergreens trim every cuff and seam, and his boots are furry with turned up toes. His hands look like bark of a tree, and his fingers are long, slender and bending like branches can be.
